We're just months away from GDC Next 2014 featuring ADC, and today the organizers are happy to announce two more great talks that will take place at this year's November conference. To wit, veteran game designer Tadhg Kelly will be delivering a talk on the language of raw game design (and how fluency in it will help you build your best games) while a panel of kid-friendly app developers discuss the trials and tribulations of developing compelling educational apps for the contemporary app stores. GDC Next and ADC, which aim to highlight practical ways for developers to increase the creative and financial success of their projects, are taking place simultaneously on November 3rd-4th, 2014 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This year we're excited to welcome Kelly back to GDC Next. After speaking last year about the upcoming "multiplayer singularity," the game industry veteran returns to deliver a talk about the language of raw game design titled "Raw Game Design: You Have A Game Idea, What Comes NextCome from VP bet ?" Kelly hopes to offer practical advice for developers who have read all the great books and articles on game design, come up with an awesome idea, and then run into problems communicating their vision to the rest of their team. The challenge is how to translate your idea into something useful, and Kelly hopes his "raw game design" method for standardizing how we talk about design concepts will provide attendees with the insight and tools necessary to make their dream games a reality. Also, as part of the App Developers Conference programming at GDC Next, a panel of kid-friendly app development experts will come together to speak frankly about the virtues of child-friendly design in a talk titled "Designing Apps and Games for Kids (The Right Way.)" Attendees will have a chance to hear Alex Bowman (ChoreMonster), Paul Armstrong (ChoreMonster), Jim Nichols (THUP Games) and Carly Gloge (Ubooly) discuss the challenges of engaging and teaching kids in a world where mobile technology is rampant, intuitive touch interactions are commonplace and distractions are rampant.
